Board adopts farmland-preservation amendment to update county comprehensive plan

Hannah Keck Eisen of the county Community Development Department presented Comprehensive Plan Amendment 2026-2, an administrative update to align the county comprehensive plan with the farmland-preservation plan in accordance with Chapter 91 of Wisconsin statutes. She said the farmland-preservation plan must be updated every 10 years and that the amendment would allow the Town of Hartford to get its zoning certified so landowners there could opt into farmland-preservation tax credits.

There were no questions from the board. Supervisor Vespalek moved and Supervisor Toma seconded; the resolution passed by electronic vote. Staff said that, after board and ordinance approval, the plan would be recertified by the appropriate state authority and that affected landowners would be eligible to opt in to tax credits as allowed by statute.
