District staff told the board the 2024-25 Comprehensive Achievement and Civic Readiness report showed gains: kindergarten readiness rose to 76%, graduation according-to-plan reached 97% overall, ACT benchmark performance rose, and plans are in place to narrow AP participation gaps and diversify staff.
At the Dec. 9 meeting staff reported $11,259.44 in gifts to schools and $177,258.46 in gifts to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf; the superintendent highlighted a record 41,000+ pounds of food collected in November. The board also recognized outgoing chair Diane Glasheen and announced a vacant-seat application deadline.
The Mounds View School Board on Nov. 13 approved three 2025–27 labor agreements for teachers, principals and nutrition services that include multi-year pay increases and benefit improvements; the board approved each contract by voice vote.
Students from Mounds View and Irondale presented National Merit commendations, academic aspirations and fall-activity highlights — including Irondale’s fifth consecutive Class AAA marching band championship, multiple theater productions and service projects (blood drives and charity concerts).
Superintendent Lennox reported voters approved a $10 million capital projects levy by 64% in the Nov. 4 election; funds will be used for safety, security, cybersecurity and instructional technology and will be available beginning in the 2026–27 school year.
The board approved an abstract of votes and a resolution authorizing certificates of election for winners of the Nov. 4 contest, adopted a resolution to allow specified nonresident enrollment for 2026–27, and announced an application window to fill a board vacancy through Dec. 12.
Departing board member Yolanda McGee used her final meeting to thank colleagues and reflect on her service as the district’s first person of color on the board, saying serving "has been one of the greatest honors" of her life and announcing she is relocating for a new job.
The district is working with Site Logic to audit energy use across schools, review 36 months of utility data and prepare recommendations; Minnesota's clean lighting bill will require replacement of fluorescent fixtures with LEDs.
Student representatives from Irondale and Mounds View reported fall activities; the board received a gifts report recommending acceptance of $3,604.44 to schools/programs and $18,183.05 to the Ralph Reeder food shelf; senior Nadine Sitar was recognized as a 2025 National Student Poet with a $5,000 award.
Executive director Darren Johnson told the school board the district is finishing site visits, updating facility maps and preparing 3–5 year grade-level enrollment projections; districtwide enrollment on Oct. 1 was reported as 11,360, 95 more than last year.
