The Chilton County Schools board recognized Teresa Mims and Haley Logan for earning national certification as literary braille transcribers and submitting a manuscript to the Library of Congress; their training was presented as one of only a few such programs available in the state.
The board reviewed January financials — revenues at 36.4% of budget, expenditures at 30.73%, accounts payable $2.72M and an ending fund balance of $62.82M — and approved multiple consent and construction items, including a competitive gym project reported as coming in under an $8 million budget.
The superintendent requested and the board approved seeking bids for concessions at Chilton County High School, field work at 'Rubina High School,' and purchasing stadium lighting materials through Sourcewell for multiple schools, with funding from the general fund and maintenance accounts.

At its Dec. 15 meeting, Chilton County Schools received the October financial statements showing $58.7 million in ending fund balance, revenues at 7.38% of budget and expenditures at 8.96% for the fiscal year to date; the board approved the report.
A board member recommended obtaining an appraisal on a Thorsby parcel that borders County Road 50 and Chilton Street because it adjoins district property and may be part of a highway project; motion was moved and seconded and staff were directed to obtain the appraisal (vote tally not specified).
