At its Jan. 12 meeting the Porterville Cannabis Committee discussed possible amendments to local dispensary zoning, security requirements in development agreements, and the community benefits fund paid by licensed dispensaries. Staff reported a request from licensee Darren Garrett to relocate a dispensary to a site on Olive Avenue that appears within the statemandated 600-foot school buffer; staff will follow up with Porterville Unified School District and evaluate parcel configurations. The committee directed staff to work with the applicant and return with parcel-map and zoning options, asked staff to draft ordinance language and security provisions consistent with state rules, and reviewed proposed community-benefit grant programs and timelines.
