The City of Grand Junction Planning Commission held a public hearing and voted 6-0 to forward a recommendation of approval to City Council for a zoning text amendment (city file ZCA 2024702) that would add use categories and standards for "natural medicine" healing centers, cultivation, manufacturing and testing facilities aligned with recent Colorado state law. Staff framed the change as required by state preemption, proposed use-specific standards (including a 1,000-foot separation from schools and daycares and exclusion from residential zones), and commissioners discussed safety, overnight stays and alignment with DORA licensing rules.
