The Grand Island Conservation Advisory Board on Dec. 19, 2024, voted to draft a letter advising the Town Board that portions of a proposed development that intrude into an Ecologically Important Area (EED) around Woods Creek should not be developed, citing flood-control risks, steep elevation changes, tributaries and large, heritage oak-hickory trees. The board flagged discrepancies between the developer’s ecological assessment and the board’s site observations and said it will send photos and its recommendations to the Town Board.
