The Vermont Legislature Joint Judicial Rules Committee met (virtual) on Oct. 16 to review multiple promulgated and proposed court rules, approve minutes, and discuss scheduling and e-filing (Odyssey) issues. The committee voted on several promulgated rules (including a juror-alternate rule and a gender-neutral evidence update), heard presentations on privilege protection for lawyer-referral calls, family-court rule changes (including special findings for juveniles seeking certain immigration status), alternate service of process proposals, foreclosure/eviction form requirements, and technical eCourt amendments, and agreed to a three-times-per-year meeting cadence.
