At the Sept. 11 Bakersfield City Council meeting residents and scientists pressed the council over a recent drying of the Kern River and mass fish deaths; the council discussed legal limits on water delivery and referred the issue for ongoing coordination. The council also approved a sewer connection fee increase and directed staff to pursue near-term traffic calming near Jefferson Elementary.
