The Ames Zoning Board of Adjustment heard two related appeals about whether the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) must be notified or review certain zoning ordinance text amendments and future changes of use in the single-family conservation overlay. The board voted to affirm the planning director's interpretation that a proposed text amendment would not require HPC review because it would not 'affect' historic resources, and later denied a second appeal as not ripe for review.
