Mayor Mike Horn opened the December meeting, led a short welcome, and called the traditional roll call; Council members Ivan Huffman, Julie Pockett, Melissa Hunt (mayor pro tem), Ken Sadler, Jane Welch and Monte Long were recorded present. Council member Ken Sadler led the invocation and Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Hunt led the pledge of allegiance.
At its December meeting the Town of Lewisville Town Council voted to adopt a resolution of intent that will place staggered council terms on the 2025 ballot and amended the resolution to specify the mayor would serve a two-year term if voters approve; the council also approved fee schedule updates, took steps to assume zoning-board duties from Winston-Salem, approved a one-time fee reduction for a local nonprofit, and adopted an inclement-weather rental policy.
