The Caroline County Transportation Committee met July 2, 2025. The committee discussed a Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) pre-application for pedestrian and signal improvements at the Route 1/Route 207 intersection, explored options to reduce the project's scope and cost (including phasing and seeking right-of-way dedications), and voted to direct staff to value-engineer the TAP pre-application to focus on a south-side sidewalk from Route 1 to Flying J, a crossing at Flying J to Welcome Way, and sidewalk connections toward Prospect/Partnership Boulevard. The committee also heard a presentation of the Carmel Church transportation study, which identifies freight, pedestrian safety and future commuter/rail options, and opened a 30-day public comment period on that plan.
