Meeting called to order and opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by associate member Branson and an invocation by associate member Preston. Chair welcomed attendees and noted absent associate members (Hand, Kellum, White).
The Marine Resources Commission on 2024-09-24 heard a major package of blue-crab policy options including whether to keep the winter crab dredge fishery closed for 2024–25 and whether to extend the crab-pot season; the commission voted 4–1 to advertise closing the dredge fishery for 2024–25, advertise a potential extension of the pot season, and direct staff to continue work on a dredge-framework. The meeting also approved a boathouse permit, an amendment allowing limited snagging for select bait species, and recreational fishing grant awards.
