Hooper City Council convened a work meeting and later a regular council meeting on July 17, 2025. Council and staff covered routine announcements, upcoming events, hiring and finance procedures, a broad review of the city fee schedule (parks, development, public works, cemetery, inspections), planning for Hooper Tomato Days (including a proposed purchase of concrete tomato sculptures), an RFP for city legal services, and several routine approvals. During the regular meeting the council heard public comment, approved minutes and several routine actions, considered an unsuccessful motion to temporarily shift several mayoral powers to the council, approved a commercial business license for a home-based kindergarten (KinderCoop), and approved an interlocal agreement and resolution with the Roy Hillside Senior Center. Staff also briefed the council on the moderate-income housing report due Aug. 1.
