The Nelson County Board of Education met July 22, 2025. The board heard presentations on a new early learning/childcare program opening August 4, accepted a WHAS Crusade for Children grant to support a music therapist, discussed implementation and local effects of Senate Bill 181 and approved traceable communication systems for postsecondary partners, previewed a district college-and-career advising rollout ("Power Up Backpack"), and spent most of the evening on facility priorities and budgets (New Haven School, Nelson County High School, Thomas Nelson) including motions to reinitiate BG-1 budgets and to advertise the Thomas Nelson bid. The board convened a brief executive session for mid‑year evaluation goals and returned with no action taken.
