La Mesa City Council met July 8, 2025. The meeting opened with roll call, invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, then proceeded through community bulletins and two proclamations (Park & Recreation Month; MAC Day). Major agenda items included a La Mesa Parking District 1 presentation and public feedback on meter and permit changes; a presentation and Q&A on grossmont center renovation; interviews for multiple city boards and commissions; the first reading of municipal code amendments renaming Community Services to Parks & Recreation; adoption of sewer rate increases for FY26–27; adoption of the 2025–2029 CDBG consolidated plan; and a council-initiated policy requiring council approval before cancelling affordable-housing deed restrictions. The council appointed Todd McCauley to the Community Police Oversight Board and adjourned in memory of Lemon Grove council member Steve Faiai.
