The Committee on Ordinances for the City of New Bedford met Aug. 25, 2025 to consider zoning and ordinance referrals, including a request to remove the City Council as the granting authority for special permits for motor-vehicle uses and proposed changes to the body art (tattoo) separation-distance rules. Staff and board representatives described the current special-permit process, fees and timelines; the committee referred the motor-vehicle permitting item to the full council for no further action and continued the zoning/body-art hearings to Sept. 29 for additional information.
