Ridgecrest Recap – July 2025 Highlights: EVENTS: The first Youth Makers' Market on July 19 was a success with 25+ youth vendors and 18+ local businesses. City Nights returns August 23 from 5–9 PM at City Center, featuring live music, food and drinks, games hosted by Cerro Coso, science demos, a pop-up farmers market, foam zone, and a Ridgecrest Police Department meet-and-greet. RPD UPDATE: Ridgecrest Police and state partners safely rescued a foster child earlier this month and arrested a suspect for kidnapping and child stealing. COMMUNITY SHOUT OUT: Thanks to Cerro Coso Community College for supporting dispatcher testing and helping out with City Nights. LANDSCAPING ORDINANCE: A new Commercial Landscaping Ordinance will be presented to City Council soon to improve property maintenance standards for commercial properties only. ROAD WORK: Ongoing prep on Felspar Street. Drummond Avenue received fresh striping, sign updates, and slurry seal. Big thanks to our Public Works team! FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS: Shetland Field is undergoing major renovations. Basketball courts are being resurfaced: KMCC Gym & Racquetball Courts: July 21 – August 2 Upjohn Park Courts: July 21 – September 1 Pearson Park Courts: July 21 – September 1 BUSINESS PERMITS: Food trucks, stands, and mobile booths must have a City of Ridgecrest Business License and a Kern County Health Permit. Enforcement begins soon. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: 5 Below opened on June 27. Ross and Wendy’s are under construction — updates coming soon.
