Stacey sits down with Nikki Richardson Rafferty to talk about her recent move to Elgin and her reopening of a new business in downtown Elgin, Things Celtic, located at 34 N. Avenue C in Elgin, just across from the City's Post office. It is Texas’s premier retailer of authentic Celtic products from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and North America. The Business is a recipient of both a City of Elgin Main Street Grant and EDC Grant and will contribute to the City’s economic vitality.
Originally founded in 1997 by Lanora Davidson in Austin, Texas, Things Celtic earned a reputation as the “Best Little Irish Shop in Texas.” After relocating to Dublin, Texas, in 2018, the store became a beloved destination for Celtic culture, heritage, and artisan crafts. Now, under new ownership, Things Celtic is returning to its roots and establishing a new home in Elgin, where it aims to serve as a vibrant hub for Celtic culture and shopping.
Owners Nikki Richardson-Rafferty and Bob Rafferty say they look forward to making Things Celtic the Emerald of Elgin, bringing the magic of Celtic heritage to the community. Nikki added, “We are excited to bring Things Celtic to Elgin and to connect with the community. Our store is a treasure trove for anyone interested in Celtic heritage, gifts, and culture."
