π’ Orange City Budget Update π’
At Wednesday nightβs budget hearing, City Council adopted the 2025 millage rate of 7.2387 at first reading.
π What does that mean?
A millage rate is how local governments calculate property taxes. One mill equals $1 of tax for every $1,000 of taxable property value.
π‘ Example:
With a millage rate of 7.2387, a home with a taxable value of $200,000 will pay $1,447.74 in city property taxes for the 2025 tax year.
π Where does your tax dollar go?
$0.38 β City of Orange City
$0.29 β Volusia County
$0.27 β Volusia County School Board
$0.06 β Other entities (like the West Volusia Hospital Authority)
β
These dollars fund essential services like police, fire, parks, and road maintenance, and support community favorites including:
π¬ Movie in the Park
π Halloween Block Party
π Christmas Parade
π Fireworks & Fun
π
