“Welcome back to Stone Eater. It’s been a little while, said City of Lebanon Engineer Kevin Krulik. It’s been about a year since we cut the ribbon on the place. It’s one of these things that we are always tweaking, always looking at ways to make trails better, and that’s what we have been doing for about the past two weeks now.”
“What we found is that we were really pleased that we were able to use a lot of recycled material from the original trail construction, but it didn’t quite have the compaction capabilities that we’d hoped for," added Krulik. "So, we’ve added some new stone to the top of the trail, we’ve raked that all in with equipment, we’ve rolled that and compacted it. I think, if you haven’t been out here in a while, you should come try it again, because the stone trails are going to be a lot faster, a lot more fun, and just a lot more dynamic than it was a few weeks ago.”
“If you can ride a bike, you can ride Stone Eater," said Krulik. "Yes, we have skills trails that will challenge the most advanced riders, but the core of Stone Eater Bike Park, is our more than five miles of white stone trails that are now even better than when we first opened it about a year ago.
“We are three weeks away from hosting the NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) state championships here at Stone Eater, so we are excited to have the course in tip-top shape, as the kids come in from all over the state and surrounding states to race here on the weekend of October 18th and 19th.”
