The State Board of Education met in Austin, Texas in September 2025. The board approved a revised K–8 social studies core sequence (Option G) and adopted Strand C for strands, approved proposed quality rubrics for the 2026 instructional-materials review cycle, and directed the Permanent School Fund Corporation to complete an approximately $1.81 billion transfer to the Available School Fund for FY2026. The board also advanced a first reading on proposed gifted-and-talented student-identification rule changes, the Committee on School Initiatives reported work to meet Senate Bill 204 deadlines for required parental-rights trustee training, and SBEC classroom teacher certification standards were taken "no action" by the board.
