The halls of Reading Elementary School were recently filled with former administrators, staff and alumni who were invited to reflect and share memories of the beloved school, which has now been in exhistance for 40 years. “They were excited to come back to the school they loved,” kindergarten teacher Tauna Connors said. “It’s such a good community. There is parent support, and the students are excited to be here. The teachers go above and beyond—everybody works together.” Guests spoke to kindergarten through sixth-grade students about the school’s community feel and the choosing to stay in the Centerville area. “Many of the people who came here originally now have children attending,” Principal Roger King said. Those students were especially thrilled to witness the opening of a time capsule from the year 2000. The contents included candy, Star Wars and Pokémon cards, photos and lots of Y2K-themed drawings. If you were once a Wrangler or simply curious, the time capsule and its contents will be on display to the public inside the school. Stop by, take a look and remember the good times once shared.
