With co-chair Pamela Henry presiding, the Financial Affairs Committee convened in person and via video conferencing for its first meeting of the school year on Tuesday, August 5. Director of Business Services Josh Sweigard delivered the following updates: The White House released $230M for Pennsylvania schools, thereby funding Titles II, III and IV (almost $175K in grants to Cheltenham School District). On the state side, Sweigard announced Pennsylvania has not yet approved its budget, resulting in a halt of basic and special education funding, subsidy payments and federal payments. Despite this, the district is in a healthy cash position. Sweigard also reviewed legislative items including cafeteria equipment replacement across the district, paid out of the food service fund.
