JE Dunn Construction hosted a topping-out ceremony on Oct. 6, 2025, to celebrate the completion of the structural phase of the Public Safety Building. This milestone marks the placement of the final beam at the highest point of the structure. The beam, signed by construction workers, employees and elected officials, was hoisted into place by a crane. The ceremony featured brief remarks by Tim Ockinga, Vice President of JE Dunn Construction, and Douglas County Sheriff Jay Armbrister. The event was held to express gratitude to the construction crews for their dedication and hard work. The Public Safety Building will house the Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Communications and Emergency Management. It is scheduled to be finished in summer 2026.
