For the first time, McAllen Shines has recognized a neighborhood as a McAllen Shines Community Champion. The award is presented quarterly to schools, businesses, neighborhoods, or individuals who show commitment to making our city a better place to live. This city-wide initiative led by McAllen Javier Villalobos and developed by McAllen Public Works helps to promote cleanliness, respect, civic pride, and “doing the right thing.”
