It’s a role built on collaboration, accuracy, and foresight. Emma joined Orange City just over a year ago, drawn by the opportunity to make a direct and meaningful impact through local government. With a background in municipal finance since 2019, she finds fulfillment in knowing her work helps shape the city’s future. No two days look the same. Emma might spend one day reviewing grant reimbursements or FEMA requests, and the next analyzing budgets or approving project requisitions. Every day is a mix of analysis, communication, and problem-solving — all aimed at ensuring taxpayer dollars are used responsibly and effectively. She hopes more residents understand the structure and transparency behind public funding. Government budgets are guided by detailed rules and accountability measures to ensure every dollar supports a clear purpose. Emma also encourages residents to get involved in the budget process: “It may not be the most exciting thing on everyone’s calendar, but it’s a meaningful opportunity to help shape the City’s priorities and investments.” When it comes to advice, Emma keeps it simple but powerful: “Trust but verify.” In finance, she says, trust builds good relationships, but verification protects the integrity of the work — and both are equally essential. As Orange City prepares the FY 2025/26 adopted budget, Emma reminds residents that every dollar represents a service, a project, or a goal we’re working toward. Through thoughtful financial planning, she and her team help fund critical initiatives like septic-to-sewer conversion, pipe rehabilitation, and stormwater improvements — investments that keep Orange City strong for years to come.
