The Anne Arundel County Board of Health (morning) heard an extensive briefing from Health Officer Dr. Toni Gedna on federal Medicaid policy changes, vaccine guidance and the departments strategic programs (health equity, maternal & infant health, behavioral health, overdose prevention, school-based services and environmental health). Health staff warned of substantial local impacts from phased Medicaid policy changes that begin in 2025 and continue through 2029 and called for increased staffing and outreach. The County Council (afternoon) held a work session covering multiple bills including a refunding for the Arundel Gateway special tax district (Bill 83-25), a proposed multiple-dwelling air-conditioning maintenance and enforcement ordinance (Bill 79-25), and a major update to the countys Transportation Adequate Public Facilities rules (Bill 81-25); the council and administration debated the transport APF proposal at length and administration asked to hold the bill for further stakeholder work.
