At its Sept. 23, 2025 meeting the Memphis City Council considered proclamations and dozens of routine and capital items and held a heated public-comment and council debate on a resolution asking Governor Bill Lee to reject a proposed National Guard deployment to Memphis; the resolution failed on a 4-4-2 vote after extensive public testimony.
