The Princeton City Council met for its regular meeting. Council approved routine minutes and invoices, authorized a one-year contract with Hometown Consulting LLC to support economic development, and advanced an ordinance (first reading) related to the RMA minimum/maximum contribution agreement to second reading. City staff announced two grants (police tasers and IDOT guardrail funds) and an estimated 8% rise in estimated assessed value (EAV). Auditor Matt Sheeler of Wipley delivered the independent audit: a clean, unmodified opinion on the financial statements, a repeat finding for TIF reporting timeliness, a small segregation-of-duties issue at the library, and a set of pension/OPEB and cash-flow summaries. Mayor and council discussed the recent Gardner Denver (Champion) facility closure that will eliminate about 70 local jobs and said the new consulting contract is intended to support job creation and retention.
