East Bethel held a work-session on Oct. 27, 2025, focused on proposed changes to the fire departmentofficer structure and a complaint-driven review of short-term rental (VRBO) activity. The fire chief proposed ending multi-year term limits for captains and district chiefs, keeping lieutenant positions as term-limited to preserve upward mobility, and creating a senior-firefighter duty-officer rotation and an outside-panel interview process. Councilmembers raised questions about promotion opportunities, discipline, pay differences and training requirements. Staff reported a complaint about a VRBO at 19520 West Trioaks Circle NE that hosts large gatherings; council asked staff to research model short-term rental ordinances and report back.
