Silver Consolidated Board of Education met in October for a work session and regular meeting. Associate Superintendent Cindy Barris presented state assessment and milestone testing results and highlighted weak math performance and forthcoming changes in high-school math pathways. Bond consultant Mark Valenzuela and Superintendent William Hawkins reviewed mill-levy timing, how SB 9 would affect revenue distribution, and a bond-funded schedule for school projects including a leveraged state match for the CLIF replacement. The board discussed disposition options for Sixth Street and Jose Barrios school buildings and heard a family member give the history of the Jose Barrios namesake. The board approved the consent agenda (grants, donations, checks), took first readings of staff-conduct boundary-reporting and student-discipline matrices, and approved tribal regalia graduation language for high-school handbooks.
