La Crosse City Council on Oct. 9, 2025 voted to decline a proposed director of operations position after extended debate over budget and governance; the council also awarded a renovation contract for Fire Station No. 3, approved several capital and utility reallocations, accepted a state grant for permanent protections on the Second Street cycle track, and approved several capital equipment purchases.
