The Ocala Community Redevelopment (CRE) board met on Oct. 13, 2025, to review project updates for downtown infrastructure and public-realm improvements, discuss an upcoming Hotel Marion redevelopment incentive request, and preview public meetings on pedestrian safety and CRE sunset extensions. Staff described ongoing projects including the downtown parking garage, Brick City Lofts, a Marion Theater pocket park concept, Parking Lot 7 resurfacing, a lighting-standard rollout on First Avenue, a water-tank lighting phase, the East Ocala skate park, and a proposed historic marker for Tom Petty. Public commenters raised activation ideas for the pocket park, accessibility and wayfinding downtown, the new downtown shuttle pilot, and preservation needs for Mount Zion AME Church.
