Mecklenburg County Public Schools board met Oct. 20, 2025. The meeting included recognitions for students, staff and bus drivers; updates on facilities projects including Chase City Elementary pre-demolition and a band-room retrofit; a new district publication launch; an instructional briefing on accreditation and recently raised Virginia SOL (Standards of Learning) cut scores and phased-implementation options; and several formal votes including authorization to use the PPEA procurement for a new La Crosse Elementary School and approval to acquire a proposed site on Canaan Church Road. The board approved routine consent items, personnel recommendations, budget bills, an overnight cross-country trip and declared miscellaneous equipment surplus.
