The Wausau Room Tax Commission met to hear a presentation from Tim White of the Wausau Central Wisconsin Convention and Visitors Bureau asking for a three-year contract and an increase in its room-tax allocation from 40% to 45%. The commission took no action on the CVB request but later voted on a slate of event and program funding: approved grants for Wings Over Wausau, Fourth of July fireworks, Truckfest, the Grand Theater seasonal marketing, and RiverLife pier maintenance; approved a one-year $50,000 allocation for trail development; denied a $6,500 tourism request from the Center for Visual Arts; and rejected a $15,000 request to move flower-basket maintenance to room-tax funding.
