The La Marque City Council met Oct. 27, 2025, and heard extended updates on municipal finances, utility operations and capital projects. Finance Director Worth Ferguson outlined a large transparency push including publication of FY2025 financial documents and a tracking spreadsheet for reconciliations and audits; lenders told staff they need additional expense cuts before financing tax-secured loans. Council took first-reading action on an amended land-sale ordinance to the La Marque Economic Development Corporation, approved a first reading of revised water and sewer rates and awarded a $54,000 contract for a customer usage portal (AquaTrax) funded from ARPA; the council also approved a contract amendment adding $100,000 for wet-well cleaning at the wastewater plant and made one parks-board appointment.
