At a meeting of the City of Lowell Board of Parks, members approved a string of permit requests and fee waivers for community events, park dedications and youth sports while debating an unauthorized conversion of a long‑standing Little League baseball field into a softball field. The board voted to request a cost estimate to restore the disputed field to baseball use after residents and several board members said the change was made without board approval. Staff and applicants received several fee waivers or date approvals for events including a St. Louis Park community engagement event, a McPherson Park ribbon cutting, Pop Warner playoff games and multiple memorial bench plaque requests.
