Borger ISD officials held a public information session about a voter-approval tax rate election that would raise the districts maintenance and operations (M&O) rate by 5 cents while the interest and sinking (I&S) portion of the rate has dropped, producing a net decrease in the total tax rate. The district outlined how an estimated $561,000 in local M&O revenue (roughly $500,000 from industry and $61,000 from homeowners) would combine with an estimated $970,000 in additional state funding to produce $1,531,000 annually for five prioritized categories: early education/pre-K, homestead exemptions, safety and security, operations/infrastructure, and employee recruitment and retention. Officials described planned allocations, accountability measures, and answered resident questions about pre-K eligibility, daycare expansion, and replacement plans for buses and HVAC.
