The Hazel Park School District Board of Education held a special meeting Oct. 30 to review the districts audited financial statements and consider a budget amendment for fiscal 2025-26. Auditors reported a modified opinion on the districts financial statements and identified a material weakness related to untimely bank reconciliations and books and records; the board voted to approve the audit. The board also heard a presentation on the proposed 2025-26 budget amendment showing modest revenue increases, several grant carryovers and fund transfers (including from special education), and approved the amendment. Board members discussed cybersecurity and cloud backup recommendations and agreed to route that work to the Committee of the Whole for cost estimates and further discussion.
