The Alton Town planning committee met in the evening to review several proposed zoning ordinance amendments, chiefly: Proposed Amendment 3 (accessory dwelling unit rules and definitions) and changes to rules for nonconforming structures and minimum buildable-area calculations. Members discussed aligning local language with recently changed state language, square-foot and parking limits for ADUs, septic/DES requirements, and restoring a more permissive replacement path for nonconforming structures. The committee voted unanimously to forward the amendments for further review (planning board or legal review) and set follow-up meetings in November.
