A brief World Cities Day address called for people-centered smart-city strategies to address a global housing crisis and the digital divide. The speaker highlighted large global counts of inadequate housing, informal settlements, homelessness and people without internet access, and urged linking digital tools to housing, land rights and basic services ahead of the World Urban Forum in Baku in 2026.
