Maricopa County Board of Supervisors received and unanimously accepted a report from an ad hoc stakeholder task force convened to recommend process improvements for the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department (MCESD) on-site wastewater (septic) permitting program. The task force developed 27 recommendations across seven topic areas, including clearer staff guidance, harmonizing county and Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) maps, virtual reinspections, streamlined resubmittals, and asking the county to request ADEQ to prioritize rule updates in the Arizona Administrative Code. The board directed staff to implement the county-level recommendations and agreed to send the suggested letter to ADEQ for rule changes.
