The New Iberia City Council met for its regular session. The meeting opened with prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, roll call and brief announcements including a Veterans Day event. Council approved several procurement and construction items (skate park substantial completion, theater lobby renovation, community center electrical upgrade, pump-station upgrades, demolition contracts) and accepted state appropriations routed through the city for local nonprofit programs including Team Court and childrens summer programs. Teen Court volunteers asked the council for support and outreach help. The council conducted multiple public hearings on dilapidated properties and set deadlines for owner remediation or city-led demolition.
