The Federal Way City Council held a special study session on Nov. 5, 2025, to receive an update on the City Center Access project. Staff described the project history, phases, recent federal and state environmental approvals, anticipated right-of-way work and coordination with Sound Transit and the Bonneville Power Administration, and a tentative schedule that would put construction of phase 1 after additional design and funding (possibly as soon as 2028). Council members asked about road closures, access for businesses and pedestrians, salmon/fish-passage work, power-line relocations, project costs (last estimate cited at about $550,000,000) and how this project competes with other regional priorities.
