Commissioner Eric Allen (District 2) and Judy Jones, Cobb County director of water, discussed a proposed stormwater utility that would separate stormwater charges from water/sewer bills, create a visible $4.75 monthly residential fee, and fund repairs, detention-pond maintenance and in‑house stormwater crews. Jones described a backlog of roughly 100 pipe repairs (about 69 sinkholes on private property) and said commercial rates would be based on impervious surface compared with a median residential baseline of 3,700 square feet. Allen also announced two public hearings (Nov. 12 at 9 a.m. and Nov. 20 at 6 p.m.) and asked Jones about restarting incinerators at the Sutton wastewater plant; Jones said the county is in the design phase and cited rising landfill costs as a reason to resume incineration. Jones will retire in January after about 31 years with the county.
