UNDP resident representative Kishan Kode briefed on Hurricane Melissas landfall in Jamaica, described extensive damage across western and central parishes, provided early debris and damage estimates from UNDPs assessments, and announced a US$400,000 UNDP allocation for initial assessments and early recovery support. He said partners (WFP, UNICEF, IOM, WHO, OCHA, CARICOM) are leading immediate relief while a rapid needs assessment is underway.
