The Town Board of Red Hook held a preliminary budget public hearing on Nov. 5, 2025 and adopted the 2026 preliminary budget. Supervisor Robert McKeon presented a budget the board says lowers the town tax rate by about 5.75% but produces a small increase in the typical household bill; residents used the public hearing to press for detailed cost estimates and transparency around a possible acquisition of the Red Hook Boat Club and the use of the Community Preservation Fund. The board also approved a series of routine resolutions, including authorizing $400,000 from the water district reserve for tank rehabilitation, contract renewals for composting, county purchasing assistance, and easements and task orders for local solar and water projects.
