At its Nov. 6, 2025 meeting in Council Chambers, the Madison City Public Arts Commission discussed developing a 2026 "impact grant" program to fund public art in targeted locations and heard a presentation from the Madison Area Arts Alliance on a permanent "Art Alley" installation. Commissioners indicated interest in targeting 2–3 locations (Johnson Lake, the connector/Heritage Trail, hilltop/roundabout and riverfront areas) and staff said a draft program would be ready for review with a target to launch in early 2026. The commission approved the Art Alley frames installation by voice vote; the Madison Area Arts Alliance said a sponsor will underwrite fabrication and the first exhibit will feature Harland Hubbard.
