A Salina study session and City Commission meeting on Oct. 13, 2025 included an annual “State of the Arts” presentation by Salina Arts & Humanities and eight cultural partners reviewing festival finances, attendance, volunteer and in‑kind support; the commission then approved routine consent items and four substantive items: (1) an amendment to the agreement with Salina Baseball Enterprises for Pestinger Family Stadium (grandstand/press box, scheduling priority for Sacred Heart and a reduced fee for games); (2) an amendment with KDOT to remove a funding cap on the Magnolia Road Trail project, increasing the KDOT share and reducing the city share; (3) a contract amendment with Deal Enterprises to finish removing a large logjam in the Smoky Hill River at Bill Burke Park (emergency debris removal) with potential state/federal disaster reimbursement; and (4) ordinances/resolution to transition from contracted city attorney services to an in‑house city attorney. Public comment included concerns about preserving community ballfields if a Boys & Girls Club project proceeds at Sunset/Bondi Field.
