Chair Kathleen Brown called the administrative informal and workshop session to order and asked the clerk to announce the board members present: Boensteel, Kallen, Cummings, Dwyer, Felton, Dr. Green, Melnick and Rogers; Vice Chair Weems was en route.
Virginia Beach School Board held an administrative workshop covering a Mercer financial update on the employee health fund and benefit trends, questions about pharmacy cost drivers and possible funding options, and a facilities update on roofing, HVAC and the Princess Anne High School replacement project. Board members asked for more enrollment and utilization detail and were told the city council will consider a $5.8 million reversion on Nov. 18 before the board acts. The meeting recessed to reconvene for the formal session at 6 p.m.
